Raja - South Sudan (2018)

Since its independence in 2011, South Sudan has struggled to provide the basic needs of its population. Today, the Raja area in the North-west of the country is devastated by civil war, malnutrition, and poor sanitary conditions.
After several wave of confrontation, around the city Raja or even inside the city, between government forces and the opposition (June 2016, April 2017 ...) where both groups took advantage of the situation to loot the city, several thousand people fled to rural areas surrounding the town and for some of them beyond the Sudanese border. Insecurity, hunger and the on-going rumours of an imminent attack have been pushing them far from the town, leaving behind those who don’t want to leave and, more importantly, those who could not follow the rest of their family or their community because of age, weakness or illness (physically or mentally).
Sultan Al Nuur Ali & Osman Abdalla Osman gathered and cared of several dozens of elderly people and sick people who were left behind…
